Thankful Thursday

1) I know I've said it before, but I have to say it again. I am super thankful for this guy. I am totally prone to bragging about my husband, but that is only because he is totally awesome. This is the night that he proposed to me (a cheesy reinactment), which was a super romantic day. It was May 15, 2004 and Nic came out to visit me in San Luis Obispo from Chicago. I knew he'd bought the ring because he was so excited about it that he couldn't keep himself from telling me. He planned a day full of my favorite things. We had a picnic by the creek, rode on the trolley, got a manicure for me (so that my fingers would look pretty when I showed everyone the ring), and then we went out to wonderful dinner. Afterward, he took me to the beach where we had one of our first dates. On this date, he told me that I was how he always pictured his wife. Slightly creepy for a first date, but still cute. :) Anyway, we went back there and he got down on TWO knees in the sand in a suit. He said that he did it for emphasis, but I think he just forgot how people usually proposed. Then he asked me to be his wife. Now, almost 5 years after that night, we're still as happy as can be.

Now, Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and I want to do something really sweet for him...but I can't think of ANYTHING! He'll be gone the night of Valentine's Day helping out with youth baptisms at the temple, so I need to come up with a romantic activity or gift to give him during the day. Any ideas?

2) I am thankful for infant amnesia because being a new mom isn't easy, and sometimes you have to experiment to get things right. Max is almost 6 monthts old now, and he wakes up every two to three hours durng the night. I have been trying to do sleep training with him where I basically come to check on him every 15 minutes, but don't get him out of bed. I stuck to it for over a week, and it was working sometimes but other nights he'd cry for a really long time! Then last night I was going in to soothe him, and he caught my hand and was sucking it a ton. I suddenly had this aching regret that my baby had been hungry and I didn't feed him right away. I wasn't trying to make him go 10 hours without food or anything. I just wanted him to sleep for 5 or 6 hours. I thought he was just in the habit of eating in the middle of the night, but if he's actually hungry I'm going to feed my baby! I'll just have to be a zombie until he's ready to do it.
Oh, and all of our pictures recently are of him eating because it is so dang cute!

3) I am thankful that Nic was still in Primary for his birthday because they give away the BEST mix for S'more bars. Nic made it last night, and it is SOOOO yummy.
